Summary of Negotiations
Your negotiations team presented the
Tentative Agreement (TA) revised 9/3/2009
with the Huntington Beach Union High School District
regarding our Contract for July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2011.
A copy of the TA was placed in your mailbox.
If you do not have a copy of the TA please let your site representative know.
CSEA will be voted ratify a new contact. Included in the contract is a continuation of our excellent medical benefit package to our eligible employees and their dependents through a new provider, Anthem Blue Cross. We anticipate that this health coverage package will be ratified by CSEA members and become effective November 1, 2009. |
Open enrollment will begin in August and continue through the early part of October. There will also be an opportunity to increase your voluntary life insurance without having to meet any medical criteria. The insurance department and Anthem Blue Cross will come to each site in August and September to answer any questions and assist employees in completing their forms. As dates for site visits are confirmed, employees will be notified of same. The insurance department will also send out, via email to each site administrator to disseminate to their staff, Anthem Blue Cross enrollment forms, how to find their current PCP in Anthem’s network, information and enrollments for the voluntary life and forms to complete if the employee is making changes to their vision and/or dental plans. As usual, the insurance department is always available to answer questions or assist our employees any way we can at 714-903-7000. | The CSEA Chapter 157 negotiation team has entered into discussions with district management to brainstorm ways for the district to save money. Our goal is to trim excess spending and streamline programs in order to keep job cuts as far from classified employees as possible. |

Congratulations to Anne Norvell, Registrar at HBHS, who has been elected at our March Chapter meeting to fill the vacant Vice President position until December 31, 2009. It was wonderful to see so many members at the meeting and show an interest in our Chapter's activities and the election process. |

During the November 5th meeting, members voted to include in the next contract negotiations the Public Safety Officers desire to be POST certified.
This will include changing their probationary period from 6 to 12 months and allow them to participate in the POST training program.

The District and CSEA agree that new classifications will be created. The two new classifications are Campus Supervisor and Clerical Assistant. The duties of the exempt classification of Attendance Caller, Campus Security Assistant, and Supervision Aide will be incorporated in the newly formed classifications. Selection will be made in accordance with Merit System provisions.
