Health Care

The skyrocketing cost of health care is having a strong impact on working families and has created some tough bargaining battles in CSEA chapters. That's why we have been working as your advocate at the local, state and federal levels to ensure that you receive the best health care possible without sacrificing your pay or other benefits. As your union, we are here to help you get the health care benenfits you need and deserve.

Insurance Plans Available to Individuals
While most health insurance is only available to employees through their employer’s group plans, there are a few insurance companies in California who offer coverage to individuals and their families.

Access for Infants and Mothers Program
The AIM program provides low-cost health care coverage for pregnant women and their newborns.

Major Risk Medical Insurance Program
This innovative program was developed to provide health insurance for Californians who are unable to obtain coverage on the open market.

The Healthy Families Program
This low-cost insurance program provides health, dental and vision coverage to children who do not have insurance and do not qualify for no-cost Medi-Cal.

Dental Coverage for Active and Retired Members
Delta Dental Plan of California offers two voluntary plan options for active members who do not qualify for district paid dental insurance, as well as retirees.

A Jointly Managed Trust Fund gives you input in your health benefits
Under a jointly managed trust fund, the union and management work as partners to get the best deal possible.

HMO says no? How to get help
If your HMO refuses to cover you for medical services, you can seek help from the state government.
