Get to know our First Vice President
Kala Williams is our Chapter First Vice President. She has been a CSEA member for more than 10 years. She currently resides in Linda Vista, a community of the city of San Diego.
She has worked at Riley School sence 1985 and works as an Instructional Behavior Technician. She forms part of the Site Governance Team since 1991, Site Representative, assisted in getting a library for the school, organized the setup of the Crisis Intervention Team, student incentive - the Blue Ribbon Club, member of the Site Behavior Crisis Committee, Behavior Management in the classroom, classroom management, 1 on 1 tutoring, creative academic curriculum material for lower levels of ability students, initiated morning health exercise program for the elementary students, among many other ways she supports students and staff at her school site.
Kala is also an active Job Steward, Site Representative at Riley School, New Dawn and New Dawn/Mesa College. She is a member of the Negotiating Committe and Team, attends all Grievance Committee meetings, and formed part of the Martin Luther King Parade Committee.
She likes sewing/quilting, beading (jewelery making), gardening, reading fiction books, cooking and eating, collecting miniature tea sets and dragon figurines. Her favorite foods are vietnamese/thai and mexican (real). She likes to listen to 70's music. He favorite vacation spot is Snake River in Northern California.
The First Vice President shall:
(a) In the absence or disability of the President, possess all of the powers and perform all of the duties in his/her stead.
(b) At all times assist the President in the performance of his/her duties.
(c) Assume the office of President if a vacancy occurs.
(d) Coordinate the activities of the Standing Committees.
(e) Serve as co-chairperson of the Grievance Committee.
(f) Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the President or ordered by the Chapter Constitution.
