CSEA Cares

CSEA working to help members impacted by wildfires

The Clayton Fire and Blue Cut Fire have destroyed hundreds of homes and displaced thousands of residents. Schools have been closed, highways shut down and several CSEA members are among those who have lost everything in the fires.

“It’s heartbreaking to see people lose so much, so quickly,” Association President Ben Valdepeña said. “Our CSEA family takes care of one another, and we are reaching out to help those affected by the fires.”

Election 2016

High stakes in 2016 Election

There is a lot on the line for CSEA members and public education this November. The President we elect will nominate at least one Supreme Court justice; adequate funding for our schools hinges on Proposition 55; and there are a number of important local and state races of immense importance to classified employees and working families across the state. The deadline to register to vote is October 24.

Putting pensions in perspective

CalPERS President Rob Feckner responds to recent news and opinions critical of the pension fund’s 2015/16 investment returns.

Disneyland announces end of discount ticket sales

As of Sept. 15, 2016, CSEA Member Benefits will no longer be allowed to sell Disneyland tickets. Disneyland is ending all discount ticket sales through organizations like CSEA, AAA and even wholesalers such as Costco. This decision was made unilaterally by Disney. While this is unfortunate, CSEA still offers discounted tickets to several amusement parks, water attractions, movie theaters and other family fun. Please visit csea.com/discounts for a full list.

During the recession, our public schools lost over $50 billion in funding. We can't afford to go back to that. Support maintaining the tax rate on the wealthiest Californians – not handing them a tax cut that would cost our schools nearly $4 billion annually.
