Governor Brown's 2018-19 May Revision Budget Proposal

On Friday, May 11, Governor Brown released his final May Revision budget proposals for 2018-19. He was very proud of his legacy and achievements of increasing funding to K-12 school districts, county offices of education (COE) and community colleges. Total funding for K-14 education will reach $78.4 billion - a record total funding for K-14 education, and Governor Brown will be leaving behind a "Rainy Day Fund" of $13.8 billion. Read More »

Governor Brown releases 2018-19 budget proposals

The Governor released his 2018-19 Budget proposals for the next fiscal year. This will be Governor Brown's final budget. Reflecting a strong economic outlook, Governor Brown continues to increase investment in education and other program areas, while leaving behind a very healthy surplus. The Governor proposed a total state budget plan of $190.3 billion, that includes full funding for the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) in K-12 education, with significant increases for other spending priorities. The proposed budget also set aside $13.5 billion in the Rainy Day Reserve Fund, which is an increase of $3.5 billion more than required by law. Read More »

Governor Signs 2017-18 Budget

Governor Jerry Brown signed a balanced, on-time state budget that increases school funding, provides additional funding for the state's rainy-day reserves, and continues to invest in the Medi-Cal program. The budget also includes language to protect the rights of new workers and provides an additional $25 million for the California Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing program. Read More »

Governor releases May Revise

While Gov. Brown continued to call for fiscal constraint, the May Revise proposal did reflect modest improvement over January's proposed budget and provided increases for school districts, County Offices of Education and Community Colleges. Read More »

Governor Signs 2015-16 Budget

Yesterday, four days ahead of the constitutional deadline, Governor Jerry Brown signed a balanced, on-time state budget that increases California's Rainy Day Fund, pays down debt, increases school funding, and boosts programs to combat poverty and homelessness. Legislature Passes Budget to Governor
