Message from the Chair

Your membership and Loyalty to CSEA is valued, and your Member Benefits Committee is focused making sure you the member know this.

Member benefits provides choices and options to all CSEA members through products, services and discounts.  Please be sure to check out the CSEA website regularly, because new service providers and discounts are always being added and updated. There are also great items in the CSEA online store too.

Conference will be here soon. This year’s theme for the Benefits Provider Area will be “A treasure chest of benefits”.    If you are fortunate enough to attend conference this year, we encourage you to stop by the Benefit Provider Area which opens at 1:00 pm on Sunday July 29.

Union Plus Free College Benefit

The Union Plus Free College Benefit offers CSEA members and their families an accessible, debt-free and convenient higher education opportunity. You, your spouse, children, grandchildren, and financial dependents can all take advantage of this exciting opportunity. Note: Your children and grandchildren do NOT need to be your financial dependents or living with you to qualify for this benefit.

Member Benefits Online Guide

The Member Benefits Program offers CSEA members a unique way to earn back the dues they pay through special savings and discounts. Since we are such a large organization, we are able to buy tickets and services at a discount, group-rate. We pass these great savings on to our members as a reward for their membership in CSEA.

Union Plus

Roots and Mission 
Union Privilege is a nonprofit organization founded by the AFL-CIO in 1986 to provide excellent consumer benefit programs exclusively to union members (current and retired) and their families.



Helping Members in Need

In 2018, CSEA's Dorothy Bjork Assistance Fund helped hundreds of members recover from devastating wildfires as well as individual hardships. These are some of their stories. 

CSEA's Assistance Fund gives members help and hope

Relying on member-donations, the Assistance Fund provided more than $300,000 in emergency and humanitarian assistance to members in need.

Mary Kay Ezell Assistance Fund Golf Tournament

The 25th Annual Merry Kay Ezell Assistance Fund Golf Tournament will be held in Bakersfield On April 27th to raise money for the Assistance Fund.  

Gov. Newsom proposes record funding for schools

Gavin Newsom’s first budget blueprint shows the governor is willing to invest in education and other programs that benefit working families. Besides proposing to increase education funding for K-12 schools and community colleges to the highest levels ever, the governor’s first budget plan also aims to pay down state pension debts and free up school district funds that would otherwise go toward pension contributions.

New laws for 2019

In 2019, classified employees will have access to a significant increase in funding for training programs, expanded school safety measures and full benefits for part-time employees in merit districts and colleges.
