Gov. Newsom proposes record funding for schools

Gavin Newsom’s first budget blueprint shows the governor is willing to invest in education and other programs that benefit working families. Besides proposing to increase education funding for K-12 schools and community colleges to the highest levels ever, the governor’s first budget plan also aims to pay down state pension debts and free up school district funds that would otherwise go toward pension contributions.

CSEA and the community

CSEA members are known for being active in the community. In many ways, that's what being a CSEA member is all about.

Union Steward Training

Union Stewards work closely with elected chapter leaders and CSEA staff to protect employee rights under the negotiated contract and laws that protect our members. Union Stewards are the first line of representation for members. They educate members on their rights and work to ensure respect and fairness in the workplace.

The Union Steward Program provides stewards and interested members with comprehensive training on multiple subjects from educating members about their rights under the contract to legal rights to keeping members involved in the Union.

The Union Steward Training dates and locations have been scheduled for Spring 2019. Please note that Union Steward Training must be taken in sequential order and registration is required. To become a Certified Union Steward, all three levels must be completed within two years.

Union Steward Training Spring 2019 sessions are now available for registration online or by contacting the Rancho Cucamonga Field Office at (800) 526-9297, ext. 2980.

Regional Member of the Year Nomination - Due Friday, March 15, 2019

People who give of themselves rarely expect recognition; however, there is no better feeling than nominating someone for their selfless service. We are able to honor these outstanding individuals through the Area F and Rancho Cucamonga Field Office Regional Member of the Year program. Do you know a member who goes above and beyond for their members, chapter, and CSEA? If you do, we ask that you take the time to share that person with us so we may recognize members who have given extraordinary service.

A regional member of the year will be selected from each of the 10 regions within Area F. The application is simple, easy to fill out, and the time it takes is a small gesture for the big thank you it says for the time and effort these members have given.

Applications must be submitted no later than Friday, March 15, 2019.

Save the date! We will honor these individuals at the Classified School Employees Week (CSEW) celebration on Saturday, May 25, 2019 (more information to follow).

When we honor individual accomplishment, we honor ourselves. Let’s bring these members to the forefront and recognize who we are and what makes us great!

Fair is Fair! Call to Action in Pomona! Join us February 13!

Brothers and Sisters:

The members of CSEA’s Pomona Chapter 14 are standing up for what’s right!

During the life of their last contract, other bargaining units negotiated a 5% compensation increase effective on their longevity increment. Prior to the commencement of negotiations for CSEA’s 2018-2021 contract, we informed the District that we were expecting a similar raise commensurate with the hard work we have done during the life of our now expired contract. Pomona Chapter 14 has waited and waited for a sizable raise. We will wait no longer! Our members work hard and it is a tragedy that the District has refused to recognize our hard work and sacrifice. The cost of rent, child care, food, gas, and health care have all increased while our wages have not. Members are effectively making less money than they did even a few years ago.

Please join the Pomona Chapter 14 membership on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, as we rally the Pomona Unified School District Governing Board to demand a fair contract with a fair wage increase over the term of the next contract!
